According to the Oxford Dictionary, a siesta is “an afternoon rest or nap, especially one taken during the hottest hours of the day in a hot climate.”
I love this idea! Sundays are a great day to begin practicing the siesta, no matter what climate you live in.
Take a load off…
Take a break…
Read a book…
Sleep in a tree…
Watch a show (or binge-watch a few)…
Float in the pool..
Watch the flowers adore the sun…
Talk a walk…

Whatever you love to do that involves rest, or a siesta, do it today!
When we take a break from the heat of the day, and the heat of our lives, we give our bodies permission to slow down. We take this time to slow down we can begin to process all that occured in the previous week. When we take a siesta we give our emotions a chance to settle a bit. We give the to-do list a well-deserved break. Taking a break also gives us time to do the things we really enjoy.
Not sure how to really rest? Check this out.
How will you practice taking a break this week? Your body, mind, family, emotions, and list will thank you! Let me know in the comments what you did for your siesta this week.
