I Recommend: Cooking Tools

Product recommendations will always include cooking items! I cook and bake for stress relief, so this will be an ever-growing list. 🙂

Did you know that Amazon has subscription boxes? This one is for kids who love to cook. It’s great for boys and girls. My son has always loved to cook so this is perfect for kids like him.

NutriMill High Speed Immersion Hand Blender

I bake bread every week, at the very least. My current bread maker also makes jams and cakes. It’s also on the fritz. I am ready for a much more industrial strength bread maker. If you’re an avid bread baker, too, check out King Arthur Baking for your next machine. That’s where I’m getting mine!

King Arthur Baking Bread Tools

* Tastes Better From Scratch cookbook. Lauren’s recipes at Tastes Better From Scratch are amazing. I’ve tried probably hundreds from the site and several from the cookbook. You won’t be disappointed.

  • I love, love my grain mill. I use it all the time and never regret having purchased it.
NutriMill Grain Mills

*I know this is an old standby, but I use this several times each week. I’m not kidding. I couldn’t live without three appliances: my Kitchen Aid mixer, my Breville food processor, and my Vita-Mix blender. I’ll list all three below.

This is the salad spinner I bought for my mother in law and it works great!

Shop King Arthur Baking for all your baking needs!

I RECOMMEND: BOOKS

Many products I recommend are books. I LOVE to read!

  • Another great book club book: Hotel o the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. This story is a wonderful story about family and love. It’s truly bittersweet. The main character is a Chinese man who relives a difficult time in American history in a search for his past. This version of the book comes with book club discussion questions, so enjoy!
Kindle:
  • This book is great for book clubs. It’s about a family of estranged Vietnamese women who come together and learn to embrace their family in all it’s uniqueness. Witty and poignant, it’s a good read and even better for discussion!
  • The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes is a great book club book. This thriller has all the best components of love, female friendship, loyalty, family, and murder all skillfully brought together in one amazing read.
  • This makes a great book club book (in fact, I know a group who is using it for their January meeting). This book is about a father who has to decide between law and justice after a family tragedy. It’s a very compelling read with lots to talk about!

This is my new favorite Christmas book. It tells the story of the Nativity through the eyes of the angels whom God sent to protect Mary and Joseph while she was pregnant and bringing Jesus to this world. It’s an action-filled story. I think even my boys would like this one!

* Line journal with Bible verse

* When I was in therapy a few years ago, my counselor recommended this book and it was a life saver.

* This book is co-authored by Eugene Peterson (of The Message Bible) and focuses on the Psalms. Seriously, we can learn a lot from the Psalms!

I also highly recommend this book. I’ve read it and completed the Bible Study. It’s all about soothing our soul and finding peace. If we have a soothed soul that’s focused on God, we are much less likely to be agitated by little things.

If there’s a relationship that needs forgiveness in your life, don’t put it off. I put it off for years in a few relationships and all it did was hurt me. Forgiveness is for YOU, not the other person. And it does not condone the behavior at all. This is the program I used and I highly recommend it.

MISCELLANEOUS RECOMMENDATIONS

Then there are the products I recommend don’t fit into a neat category. You can find those here.

AMAZON COSTUME SHOP:

Did you know Amazon has its own costume store!? I should have guessed. If we were in the market for a costume, this is totally where I’d go. No more running form store to store. That’s a WIN for me!

Home & Decor Recommendations

My husband bought this last year and we LOVE it! The design makes air flow create the perfect mesmerizing fire. I love it because it doesn’t give off a ton of heat, which means that we can enjoy more fires in Florida. If you get close enough, though, you can get warm!

UPDATE: We just bought this attachment to deflect the heat and now it’s amazing! I think we’ll use the deflector in the winter here in Florida and not use it the rest of the year. It works great, though!

I RECOMMEND: GRAD SCHOOL READING

I also recommend products to my students, and some are also helpful for non-students.
