I do realize we just opened gifts for Christmas. I’m also certain that there were items you wanted and didn’t get or items you just didn’t feel right asking for – like kitchen gadgets. These make great gifts for yourself after Christmas!
In the 1950s it was common to receive garbage cans and mixers for Christmas. But then that became a sad commentary on womanhood. Not sure how. I LOVE getting mixers for Christmas. And I’ve had a garbage can on my list for like 5 years now. So let’s take a look at what you can get for a great price at Amazon before the end of the year.
Did you know that Amazon has some great subscription boxes? This one is perfect for the kids in your life who love to cook and bake. They have a great variety of recipes and quality ingredients. I highly recommend this!
Coffee: A Gift for Yourself
I love coffee. If you’ve been here for a while, you probably know this about me. And I’m pretty versatile. I like hot coffee, lattes, iced coffee, cold brew, cold foam, frappuccinos. While I don’t like my coffee terribly sweet, I do love a good coffee. Here are some deals for coffee lovers.
Amazon has lots of subscription boxes, but this one pairs two of my favorites: coffee and books!
- Here’s my top list for specific coffee items:
- The best coffee maker for home is the Keurig Duo. My husband bought this for me last year and it’s amazing. I can make regular coffee by the cup or the pot. Of course, because it’s a Keurig, there are infinite options for what we can brew – coffee (of course) but also tea, apple cider, and cocoa. We also keep this pitcher under the k-cup side so nothing ever brews without a cup to capture it. With three sizes, it can be tough to know which coffee cup you want to use so this takes care of that issue. This is a great space-saving cup carousel too.
- Prefer a pour-over? This is the one I recommend.
- If I want to make lattes, this is my go-to machine. I’ll be honest, if I had to just have one way to make coffee, this would probably be better than all of my Starbucks runs for lattes. Phillips has an amazing line of coffee pots but this is my favorite.
- In my dream world, I would love to try a Nespresso machine. It seems so elegant. This is the one I want, and it comes with the milk frother (high foam, low foam, and cold foam) so lattes are right around the corner! This Nespresso won’t break the bank, either.
- Finally, this is the simple cold brew system I have. I love its simplicity. There’s a tiny filter inside the spout that catches any fine coffee grounds, so your brew is never grainy. mmm – so good!
Mixers
NutriMill High Speed Immersion Hand Blender
Mixers aren’t sexy but oh, the foods you can make! There are few kitchen appliances I could do without but this is one of them. While I have all of the ones I’m highlighting, my can’t-do-without is the Kitchen Aid, hand’s down.
- The first item I would recommend is this Black and Decker immersion blender. For years I wondered what all the fuss was about with immersion blenders. I mean, I have a blender so what’s the big deal? Time. Time is a big deal. And you save bunches of it with this mixer.
- Similar to an immersion blender, but for smaller quantities and drinks is this small frother. This is amazing for mixing lattes, dressings, and sauces. My sons use it daily for their protein powder and pre-workout. Our first one lasted over 5 years and when it finally quit, we immediately bought another. I’m not sure what I did before this little gadget!
- I love my hand mixer for smaller cooking and quick baking. If I’m whipping something up with just a few ingredients, this is my go-to mixer. And I love cuisinart kitchen appliances. They have been 100% reliable for me. This has a good motor to get you through thicker batters, too. I really like the 5-speed, but if you want a 3-speed, that’s an option too.
- My favorite mixer of all time is my Kitchenaid stand mixer. I would not be able to do nearly the baking that I do without this mixer. Really, this is worth the money. I prefer the Artisan model, but if you do less baking the classic would serve you just fine. I’ve had mine for 15 years and it’s still going strong.
Gift Cookers
Didn’t get the air fryer you wanted? Toaster on the fritz? I’ve gotcha covered!
- I prefer the Instant Pot brand and this air fryer is amazing. Perhaps you have friends who rave about them? Make no mistake, it’s not just for fries! You can cook just about anything in this appliance! If you prefer the Ninja brand, there’s this one, too. We bought our son the Ninja for college at Christmas.
- This panini maker is perfect for winter sandwiches. This press from Proctor Silex allows you to make really thick sandwiches too, with easy to clean parts. If you’ve tried to clean a press before then you know how important this feature is. My kids love a good pressed panini!
- When I need a stand-up toaster, this is my go-to. I love that it fits extra wide pieces of brioche! GE is a super brand and can be counted on for a very long life.
- My favorite toasters are toaster ovens. They permit regular small baking as well as toasting bread and bagels. My favorite brand over the years is the one I have now – KitchenAid. It’s sturdy and accurate.
Odds-N-Ends for the Kitchen
- I love this pot simply for it’s looks – so elegant! Make no mistake, though, it works fantastic. Note that it does not work on an induction stovetop. If that’s what you have, you’ll need a separate single burner or adapter for your stovetop.
- This is the instant read thermometer we gave my brother in law. It’s great for meat but also great for knowing when your baking is done. Mine has been a game changer for baking bread!
- This is my favorite tortilla press. I LOVE making my own tortillas. Have you tried it yet? they are so much better than store bought. Here’s my favorite flour and corn tortilla recipes.
- This is my sister’s favorite milk frother. She says it froths almond milk well, too.

- I also love Mason Jars reCAP – While we can’t reuse sealed lids for re-canning, we can use reCAPs for so much! I use them when I give away body butters and lotions as well as cookies in a jar for Christmas. This is one of my very favorite products all year. See link below.
Find new, exciting ways to reuse Mason jars & reCAP! Free USA shipping on orders over $49.
Those are my top post-Christmas New Years’ gift picks for the kitchen this year.
