Looking for a good book to read this summer? Here are my Top 5 Recommendations
For some reason, summer seems to beg for a good book. Next to baking, reading is probably one of my favorite things to do. I love getting lost in a different world or learning something new. But it can be heard to find a good book, or know what to read.
To help you out, I’m offering my summer reading list for 2023.

Fiction
- The Ladies series (Ladies of the Fire and Ladies Uncover a Secret) by Robin Luftig. This is a bonus item as there are two books in the series so far. This series is based on three unlikely friends who end up forming a lifelong bond. There are a few mysteries along the way. Their friendship is a great model for loving each other as God made us to be.
2. Sweet Rivalry by Terri Gillespie. This easy read is about two sisters, separated when they were very young, who come to find each other again. While they were apart they lived very different lives and they must rediscover who the other is if they hope to forge an adult sister friendship. BONUS: There are recipes at the end!
Study
3. The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer – while technically not just a book, I think every summer also needs a fantastic Bible study! This is my choice for the summer. I just completed it and am definitely changed for it. Here she reviews each piece of the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-19). In her classic personal teaching style, Priscilla makes these verses come alive. Included with the purchase are the video teachings (totally worth your time) and prayer cards. I learned a lot and continue to use my prayer cards. This is a study I’ll come back to each year, I think. You should definitely give this a go!
Nonfiction
4. Undistracted by Bob Goff. I love Bob Goff’s books. His writing style is hilarious and he can weave two seemingly unrelated stories together like a master! This one is great as an audio book, too, because he reads it himself so you really get a feel for him as a person. I honestly find his books life changing. He takes simple ideas and explores them at a depth I might not have on my own. In this book Bob leads us on a journey to joy. And seriously, who doesn’t need more joy!?
5. Kingdom Disciples by Tony Evans is a masterful book about really serving God on Earth. This book is for those who really want to be God’s representative on Earth. Tony challenges, prompts, and educates in a style all his own. As a result of this book, I’m making concerted efforts to change my life for God’s glory, no matter the cost. If you want to make a difference for the Kingdom, READ THIS BOOK.
So, that’s it. My top 5 books for you to read this summer. Do you have any favorites you would add to the list? Tell us belowl
