Notes from a Women’s Conference in 2024

Last Updated on October 8, 2024 by Andrea

Last weekend I attended a conference called Captivate by Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, FL. The main speakers were Judith MacNutt, Graham Cooke, and Theresa Cooke. The main ideas were that we can trust God in all situations to take care of us. I wanted to share some of my notes and I pray that they bless you!

Notes about the Holy Spirit

Don’t overlook what can be done – the Holy Spirit can do all things!

They Holy Spirit has mind, will, and emotions. He’s our helper, advocate, lawyer, healer, restorer, equipper, and guide.

When we have intimacy with the Holy Spirit we begin to learn to hear His voice.

As the Comforter, he takes us to the heart of God. He also convicts us of sin in our lives. Note that he doesn’t condemn us – just convicts us so we can return to God.

Places me in right standing with God to operate in His authority.

The heart of the Holy Spirit is to bring us to the heart of God.

Everything God does is eternal – His promises deliver over and over.

Notes about God

Old Testament – God is with us; New Testament – God is IN us

God is always talking – are we listening?

God isn’t disillusioned– he never had illusions in the first place.

If God is calling us to do something we don’t need anyone else’s permission.

Keep what we learn by practicing.

Take God at His word.

We always know where we stand with God because He is unchanging.

In the grace of God we learn His kind intentions.

God knows who we are and who we can become.

God teaches and stretches us so we are more like Him.

Live one day at a time with God.

“Never carry yesterday’s negativity into today.” Graham Cooke

& Love

Rely on the love of God to love people. ❤️

We won’t grow with God if we don’t love our enemies.

Today make plans to love God tomorrow and to love others as we ourselves are loved.

Healing comes when we open ourselves to God.

& how to act

Rest is a gift – we need to practice it – it’s already in us.

Peace is a gift – comes with our salvation. Peace lives in us.

Our job is to receive what God wants us to have.

We should be preoccupied with the nature of God His righteousness.

We are made in God’s image – we are all being shaped to be like Him. He acts as he wants us to be – kind, loving, patient, peaceful, restful…

& problems

With God living in us, we don’t have problems, we have possibilities.  When we trust God to teach us through our circumstances we are robbed of the ability to worry. Our life is only about new things. Let the dead us be dead (see 2 Corinthians 5:17)

“When God looks at us He doesn’t see anything wrong with us.  He sees Jesus in us.” Graham Cooke

We practice peace not worry.

Mercy is about kindness and goodness of God.

What does God want for us right now in any current situation? What does that mean for us?

“Our response counts to God – our circumstances are irrelevant.” Graham Cooke

Bad day? Seek God, not people.

In every situation say yes to God, but sometimes say no to self.

People don’t need to apologize to us, they need to apologize to God.

Notes about Jesus

We are training to be like Jesus – made in His image and likeness. Listen for His voice.

We are one with Jesus.

God told Joshua, “Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you” (Joshua 1:5). He says that to us regarding Jesus. Just as He was with Jesus, so He is with us today.

See the real Jesus, not the crucified one. He’s not on the cross anymore!

For God to focus on the old us, it would dishonor what Jesus did for us.

If I am in Christ, someone else’s issues aren’t with me, they are with God/Jesus.

We receive the blessings Jesus deserves because He is in us.

God sees us as complete in Jesus…the evidence isn’t me, but what Jesus did for me.

All of heaven is attracted to us in Jesus.

If we are in Christ, so are all our circumstances.

Christ is in me to make me more like Him.

We are joint heirs with Christ. We get the inheritance because He died for us.

Notes about Sin

God has dealt with sin once and for all. He is not talking about it anymore because it’s taken care of.

When God looks at us he doesn’t see what’s wrong with us. He sees us as risen in Christ – our perfected future self.

God is talking us into righteousness.

God turns every problem into a possibility.

Our life is about learning how beautiful God is.

Jesus defends us when we sin.

We are easily and quickly reunited with God when we sin (see reconciliation below).

Sin is moving outside of God’s will for us. When we bless people, and don’t hold things against them, we are teaching them to act in God’s will.

Reconciliation

Being made right with God.

It’s about power every day. Not a struggle with our old self.

Means we are in Christ – stay there.

We are 100% free – nothing is held against us.

Presence of God is holy. So we practice being holy every day. We can empower others to find Him in the same way.

God is transforming our condition.

We aren’t shamed by God because we are reconciled.

God is committed to loving us the same way H loves Jesus.

We are BELOVED to God, no matter what.

We are reunited as one with God.

Always reconcile with God, even when we are doing stupid things.

We are all ambassadors of reconciliation.

When reconciling, negativity doesn’t stick to us.

Reconciliation is the joyful art of relaxation of absolute acceptance of Christ in me.

We will be blessed whether we want it or not when we are reconciled to God.

Identity

Ask who we are in God/Christ/Holy Spirit.

Pray God continues to tell us who we are.

When feeling fearful ask what it is about God’s love that we need to learn.

Practice until we become the new being.

General Notes

When you see the word BEHOLD in Scripture, pay attention! This is showing us how God sees something.

The enemy lies, deceives, steals, and corrupts these are the only ways he can hurt us.

All of the things/situations we are trying to get out of, He’s already rescued us from it.

There are no negatives in the kingdom of heaven.

Get to the point where you are glad for problems – Thank God first, acknowledge Him next, finally use the opportunity to practice peace.

We are in the center of the Trinity – right between God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. That fact is a gift and sets us free. All our needs are met here. Allow ourselves to be loved by them.

Always do the simple things well.

Get used to blessing people.

“God never changes His mind about us.” Graham Cooke

When we bless others, blessings come back to us.

There is no negativity in heaven, so there doesn’t need to be any in me.

“When someone says something bad about you, listen for the good God says about you. Listen.” Graham Cooke

Do things out of delight and the discipline will result. Then we discipline ourselves to be more delightful.

Prayers

“God forgive me for not being peaceful. Please give me another opportunity to practice it.”

“Lord, what is it you’re teaching me? What do you want to make possible?”

“I know you are with me. Can I have your perspective on this situation?”

Bad day? “How do I make you happy right now, Lord?”

At the end of the day, Pray – apologize for stuff done/not done; give it all to God; ask for good sleep and to wake fresh.

“Thank you, Lord, for not counting my trespasses against me.”

“Thank you that I get to be a new person every day.”
