Fiction Escape
I love reading fiction as an escape. I read lots of nonfiction in many genres – for work, for writing, for relationship building – but fiction just warms my soul. Reading books about other people’s lives gives me an escape from the reality of life. And while I have a great life, it’s always fun to delve into other people’s lives!
Daughters of the Promise
I recently finished reading the Daughters of the Promise series by Beth Wiseman. This Amish-based series is all about women who choose to focus on faith, hope, and love as they journey through life. The women all face challenges to their plan, their relationships, and their faith. Yet they persevere and realize the best way to do that is with Jesus.
Honestly, it’s a simple but effective message.
Beth Wiseman is probably best known for her Amish fiction. She writes well and interweaves the characters so each book seamlessly leads to the next. While they can be read independently, like any good series, you begin to feel part of the family when you read them in order.
If you’ve read any of my other book reviews, you know I tend to read Christian books that end well. These books are no exception – they are wholesome and wonderful for escape. There is always conflict, but it’s always resolved…and in a Godly way. I realize this ‘feel good’ book isn’t for everyone.
If you are looking for a book that won’t get you all fired up-angry or leave you hanging at the end, I think you’ll really enjoy the Daughters of the Promise series.
